Beware - White Card Rip Off

A number of Queensland and Western Australian based organisations are offering the Construction Induction Certificate (White Card) as an on-line course.

These websites do not clearly explain 'up-front' that:

  • even if you do their course, the Queensland and Western Australian OHS Regulator will not issue a White Card if you do not live in their State, and

  • that residents of NSW (and other states and territories) CAN NOT do an on-line White Card course.

Under on the OHS Act, Construction Induction training must be delivered as a face-to-face attendance course conducted by a Registered Training Organisation trainer, who has been approved by the relevant State or Territory OHS regulator (ie. WorkCover NSW).

WorkCover NSW has advised that NSW residents (with a current NSW residential address) must complete an attendance course.

Persons without a current NSW residential address can not complete a NSW Construction Induction Certificate (White Card) course.

If you are a NSW resident and you completed an online White Card course you will NOT receive a White Card and an employer will not accept anything issued by the on-line provider. You have wasted your money!
